PALAZZOIRREALE lays its foundations on imagination and on everything that, over time, will take shape as a new narrative—one of family, and of the Monferrato region.

Rooted in the place itself and the authentic history it holds, this project sets the stage for a new story inspired by a utopian vision: the creation of a space—both physical and mental—capable of hosting and containing artistic interventions. These include artworks conceived specifically for the site, as well as curated pieces selected within a defined vision. Within this framework, a photographic project also emerges, collecting perspectives on the site and its evolving relationship with the project and the surrounding territory.

PROJECT
The Bosca family’s desire to write a new chapter for the spaces that have long hosted—and still partially host—their family business finds expression in a project by Polina Bosca, with contributions from Diana Berti (architect and creative director) and Giorgio Galotti (gallerist and independent curator).

WHERE
PALAZZOIRREALE takes shape within the spaces at Via Luigi Bosca 2, in Canelli, in the province of Asti. The site comprises a collection of buildings, each distinct, which over the years have served specific functions—and some of which are still used today in the production of select wines by Bosca Spa.

WHEN
September 2024 marked the inauguration of PALAZZOIRREALE and its first exhibition, launching a journey of artistic and cultural revitalization. The project continues the Bosca family’s long-standing tradition of going “against the grain”—pioneers in imagining and producing innovation through wine, and now, through art.

After a pause devoted to the expansion of its spaces, May 2025 represents a new and pivotal chapter: for the first time, select areas of the historic Underground Cathedral Cellars—a UNESCO World Heritage Site located beneath Via Luigi Bosca—will open to the public. This unveiling creates a unique convergence between the sensory experience of wine’s material and historical essence, and the imaginative vision of contemporary art—fostering a dialogue between light and darkness, above and below, past and present.
